Library Rules

1. HOURS

Library is open all six days of the week from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. (Monday to Saturday). It remains closed on IBS declared holidays. Any changes in timings are posted on the Library Notice Board.

2. ISSUE AND RETURN” COUNTER

“Issue and return” counter functions between 9.30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. daily. Timings for Issue of Books are 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. and 3:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. daily. You can return the book at any time between the specified time, i.e. 9:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

3. GATE REGISTER

While entering the Library please write your name, enrollment no. and time of entry in the gate register. On demand you are required to show your ID card or Library card.

4. KEEP PERSONAL MATERIAL AT ENTRANCE

Personal materials like books (including books issued from the library), brief cases, bags, umbrellas, rain coats, overcoats, helmet etc. are to be left at the entrance. No valuables should be left therein. Only notebook is allowed to be carried inside the library. Please collect all materials while leaving the library.

Please note-Library is not responsible for any theft or loss of material.

Calculators, Laptops computers can be taken inside the library but using laptop is not allowed inside the library.

5. BORROWING PRIVILEGES

Students are entitled to borrow 2 books, full time faculty 15 books and visiting faculty 3 books at a time.

The loan period is 7 days for students, three month for full time faculty and 15 days for visiting/guest faculty. Books may be called back from faculty also if need arises.

Renewal on the day of return is not allowed. The Library does not accept telephonic/e-mail renewal request.

6. SUB-LENDING OF BOOKS

If the borrower lends an item to a faculty member or a friend, the original borrower is still responsible for all fines, replacement cost and other charges.

7. OVERDUE CHARGES

Book charged for 7 days loan period incur a Rs. 5/- per day fine for late return. If the fine is not paid, the user may be debarred from further library facilities

8. LOSS OF BOOKS

Loss and damage of books should be reported in writing immediately to the circulating counter.

For a book reported lost, overdue fine ceases on the report date, but replacement cost at the current exchange rate/current price must be paid within three days. However, if the book is found and returned, overdue fine till the date of return will be changed. Non-payment may result in suspension of borrowing facilities.

9. RESERVATION/RECALL OF BOOKS

If a particular book is required by any of the members of the library it can be reserved for future use.

10.  CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE

Members are requested to return all material borrowed from the library before they could be given “Clearance Certificate”.

In case of visiting/guest faculty Accounts department will obtain clearance from the library before final payment or remuneration is released.

11. MATERIAL NOT LONED OUT

Reference works, reserved books, Periodicals, CDs are not loaned out.

12. CHECK CONDITION OF BOOK

While leaving the library counter, please ensure that the books borrowed by you are in sound condition.

13. USE OF ELECTRONIC GADGETS

Library computers cannot be put to personal use or sending e-mail etc. Use them only for OPAC or database searches.

14. LIBRARY NOTICES

Library notices will be mounted on the notice board. Make it a habit to read daily.

Please note-Nothing without approval can be displayed on the notice board.

15. GENERAL RULES

Users are reminded that the library is designed for serious study. Conversation or cross talks are not allowed.

Marking or writing on books, folding of pages will be taken as damage to the book will be dealt with accordingly.

Newspapers and periodicals are to be used within the area in which they are housed.

No dozing or sleeping is allowed in the library. Switch off your mobile phones. You may be fined Rs. 100/- for using your mobile phones within the library area.

Students detected taking out the library materials in an unauthorized manner will be penalized heavily (including possibility of cancellation of registration).
