Once a man and his son,  sitting on a horse, were returning from their farms.  On the way someone saw them and said “Why are riding both of you on a poor horse. Dont you see the horse cannot walk properly?”  The man got off to the horse and start walking.  After walking just a mile away, an another man surprised to see the son sitting on the horse where as the man walking. He said to the son ” you fool, dont you ashamed that you are young but even then you are on horse and your father is walking.” The son at once got off to the horse and the man got on.

After covering a short distance, they met to an another man.  He shocked to saw man on horse and the son walking.  ”Is this not your own son that you yourself is riding while your poor son is walking?” the man asked.  The man immidiately got off to the horse. Both walking with their horse reached to the village.  The villagers laughed to see them.  One of the villagers asked “What is the purpose of keeping horse with you when you are not riding it. Why dont you sit on the horse?” Hearing that the man and his son smiled and went forward.

Lesson from a Lamp

Filed under: Management Lesson of the Day — ibslibrarychandigarh @ 5:34 am

Have you seen a lamp lighting in the night.  It enlightens the area surrounding it but there is darkness below it.  It can make others able to see in the darkness but cannot be useful for itself where it is placed.

Moral: Do your DUTY sincerely without caring your personal interest. It is not neccesary that a person’s job may be equally useful for him/herself as for others.

Give People Their Fare Share

Filed under: Management Lesson of the Day — ibslibrarychandigarh @ 5:29 am

Once two man, a farmer and his neighbour were fighting on an issue relating to the well and its water.  The case was sent to the court of Akbar, the king.  The farmer said “Sir, yesterday he sold his well to me.  Today morning when my wife went to take water from the well, he asked to pay for the water.  He says that he has sold the well only not the water of it.”  After hearing the problem, Akbar asked his minister Birbal to solve the issue.

Birbal asked the former owner of the well “You have sold your well to him but for keeping water in the well you have to pay him rent or you must take out all of the water at once.”  The neighbour was caught in his own trick.  He applogised for that.   The king also fined him for consuming the time of the court.

Moral: If you do not give the right share to the people, one day you have to pay more than their fare share.
