Online Databases

The library is a subscriber to the following databases. These databases will be a great aid to you in your research, teaching and consulting work. Now you have almost all world’s topmost management journals in full text on your desktop. You will find authoritative material for your class room and SIP/MRP assignments in these databases. Please take a printout of it for your reference and future use.

1. Business Source Complete (Ebsco)

Business Source Complete is an upgraded version of EBSCO’s Business Source Premier which includes titles from the Kluwer Academic Journals/John Wiley & Sons Journals/Berkley Electronic Press/American Institute of Certified Public Accountants/Euro money Institutional Investor/Bernstein Financial Data/Additional full text contents from ICON Group International and many other publishers.

2. Econlit (Ebsco)

EconLit database is the product of Ebsco contains full text for more than 430 journals including titles from the American Economic Association (all with no embargo), such as: American Economic Review, Journal of Economic Literature, and Journal of Economic Perspectives. It is the world’s foremost source of references to economic literature. It provides links to full text articles in all fields of economics, including capital markets, country studies, econometrics, economic forecasting, environmental economics, government regulations, labor economics, monetary theory, urban economics and much more.

3. Reuters Business Insight

Business Insights provides accurate, up-to-date incisive market and company analysis and their aim therefore is to provide a single, off-the-shelf, objective source of data, analysis and market insight. Business Insights work in association with leading industries experts to produce a range of reports across a wide range of industry sector.

4. Marketline Business Information Centre (Marketline)

Marketline Business Information Centre (MBIC) provides the equivalent of over 2,00,000 pages of company and industry information, 2500 Market Research Reports, 2000 SWOT Analysis, more than 50 Company Profiles and 10,000 Company Profiles, over 150 Industry Rankings.

5. World Development Indicators (WDI)

World Development Indicators is the premier data source on the global economy, it contains statistical data for over 600 development indicators and time series data from 1962 to 2004 (selected data for 2005) for over 200 countries and 18 country groups. Data includes social, economic, financial, natural resources and environmental indicators. Data selection screens are intuitive and easy to use. Results can be scaled, indexed against a particular year, viewed by percentage change, and chartered.

6. Cabells Directory

The directory is useful to professors, graduate students and researchers publish their manuscripts.  The directory will provide information on the addresses, phone, e-mail and websites for a large number of journals. Also provides information on publication guidelines and review information.

We have subscribed Business College set which includes the following.

  • Marketing

7. CMIE (Prowess)-a server based installation
Prowess provides detailed information on more than 800 Indian companies. This includes a normalized database of the financial covering 1500 data items and ratios per company. Besides, it provides quantitative info4rmation on production, sales, consumption of raw material and energy. Totally, the no. of indicators per company is close to 2000. Such information is usually for over 10 years. You will also find useful contact information, share holding pattern, list of bankers, auditors, new abstracts, etc. It also provides daily series of share price, computer returns that includes dividends and other gains, P/E based on the profits of the last 4 quarters and a host of other useful ratios and values. Updates are received on CDs.

8. Cygnus

 

Cygnus gives latest information on Indian economy, industry, global industry, China industry and performance analysis of companies in various industry sectors. The Cygnus provides the required business intelligence in a timely and cost-effective way, leveraging technology. (for user name & password contact library)

9. Cygnus MBA Knowledge Pack

Cygnus MBA Knowledge Packonline database contains Quarterly Performance Analysis of Industries and Companies (QPAC) for 24 industries and China Industry Monitors (for 7 industries) and State Economy and Industry monitors for the top 12 states in India. Provides inputs on the industry environment & business strategies of companies, covers industry overview (both Global & Indian) and provides 360° analysis of the respective industry performance.

10. Emerald Management Xtra

Emerald Management Xtra is a product of Emerald Group Publishing Ltd. EMX is a complete service wrapped around a highly focused collection of 150 primary, online journals in management and business and also integrated with management specific abstracting service of the world’s top 300 journals called Emerald Management Reviews. EXM also focuses on Case Studies, Literature Reviews, and Book Reviews. EMX empowers management research and the teaching community. EMX includes exclusive access to teaching, student and author resources.

Library Webopac is an online catalogue of the library collection. The users of the library can access this Webopac online from any place.

Library Rules

1. HOURS

Library is open all six days of the week from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. (Monday to Saturday). It remains closed on IBS declared holidays. Any changes in timings are posted on the Library Notice Board.

2. ISSUE AND RETURN” COUNTER

“Issue and return” counter functions between 9.30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. daily. Timings for Issue of Books are 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. and 3:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. daily. You can return the book at any time between the specified time, i.e. 9:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

3. GATE REGISTER

While entering the Library please write your name, enrollment no. and time of entry in the gate register. On demand you are required to show your ID card or Library card.

4. KEEP PERSONAL MATERIAL AT ENTRANCE

Personal materials like books (including books issued from the library), brief cases, bags, umbrellas, rain coats, overcoats, helmet etc. are to be left at the entrance. No valuables should be left therein. Only notebook is allowed to be carried inside the library. Please collect all materials while leaving the library.

Please note-Library is not responsible for any theft or loss of material.

Calculators, Laptops computers can be taken inside the library but using laptop is not allowed inside the library.

5. BORROWING PRIVILEGES

Students are entitled to borrow 2 books, full time faculty 15 books and visiting faculty 3 books at a time.

The loan period is 7 days for students, three month for full time faculty and 15 days for visiting/guest faculty. Books may be called back from faculty also if need arises.

Renewal on the day of return is not allowed. The Library does not accept telephonic/e-mail renewal request.

6. SUB-LENDING OF BOOKS

If the borrower lends an item to a faculty member or a friend, the original borrower is still responsible for all fines, replacement cost and other charges.

7. OVERDUE CHARGES

Book charged for 7 days loan period incur a Rs. 5/- per day fine for late return. If the fine is not paid, the user may be debarred from further library facilities

8. LOSS OF BOOKS

Loss and damage of books should be reported in writing immediately to the circulating counter.

For a book reported lost, overdue fine ceases on the report date, but replacement cost at the current exchange rate/current price must be paid within three days. However, if the book is found and returned, overdue fine till the date of return will be changed. Non-payment may result in suspension of borrowing facilities.

9. RESERVATION/RECALL OF BOOKS

If a particular book is required by any of the members of the library it can be reserved for future use.

10.  CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE

Members are requested to return all material borrowed from the library before they could be given “Clearance Certificate”.

In case of visiting/guest faculty Accounts department will obtain clearance from the library before final payment or remuneration is released.

11. MATERIAL NOT LONED OUT

Reference works, reserved books, Periodicals, CDs are not loaned out.

12. CHECK CONDITION OF BOOK

While leaving the library counter, please ensure that the books borrowed by you are in sound condition.

13. USE OF ELECTRONIC GADGETS

Library computers cannot be put to personal use or sending e-mail etc. Use them only for OPAC or database searches.

14. LIBRARY NOTICES

Library notices will be mounted on the notice board. Make it a habit to read daily.

Please note-Nothing without approval can be displayed on the notice board.

15. GENERAL RULES

Users are reminded that the library is designed for serious study. Conversation or cross talks are not allowed.

Marking or writing on books, folding of pages will be taken as damage to the book will be dealt with accordingly.

Newspapers and periodicals are to be used within the area in which they are housed.

No dozing or sleeping is allowed in the library. Switch off your mobile phones. You may be fined Rs. 100/- for using your mobile phones within the library area.

Students detected taking out the library materials in an unauthorized manner will be penalized heavily (including possibility of cancellation of registration).
